The Power of Daily Surrender: Letting Go and Trusting God
Surrender. It’s a word that sounds uncomfortable—maybe even scary. In a world that tells us to be self-reliant, independent, and in control, the idea of surrendering—especially daily—can feel like weakness.
But in God’s Kingdom, surrender isn’t weakness—it’s the key to strength, peace, and purpose.
“If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
— Luke 9:23
Jesus calls us to a life of daily surrender, not occasional moments of faith. So, what does that look like in our everyday lives?
Prayer:
Before we begin, if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ be sure that you have privately named your sins to God the Father using 1 John 1:9 (If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness). You will then be in fellowship with God, filled with the Holy Spirit, and ready to learn Bible doctrine. If you have never personally believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior, the issue is not naming your sins, but faith alone in Christ alone. John 3:36 (He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.)
1. What is Daily Surrender?
Surrendering to God doesn’t mean giving up—it means giving control. It’s trusting His plan over ours, letting go of worry, and choosing obedience even when it’s hard.
Surrender Means…
✅ Trusting God with the unknown
✅ Releasing control over outcomes
✅ Choosing faith over fear
✅ Obeying, even when it doesn’t make sense
✅ Letting God’s will be greater than our wants
It’s a daily decision to say:
“God, I trust You more than I trust myself.”
2. Why Is Surrender So Hard?
Let’s be honest—letting go is difficult. Why?
1️⃣ We like control – We feel safe when we’re in charge.
2️⃣ We fear the unknown – What if God’s plan looks different from mine?
3️⃣ We don’t fully trust God’s goodness – Deep down, we wonder if He truly has our best interests at heart.
But here’s the truth: God sees what we can’t. His plan is always greater than ours.
Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
3. The Blessing of Surrender
When we surrender, we don’t lose—we gain.
1. Surrender Brings Peace
Trying to control everything leads to anxiety and exhaustion. But surrender brings peace because we’re no longer carrying the weight of the world alone.
Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
2. Surrender Invites God’s Guidance
When we let go, we make room for God to lead. His direction is far better than any path we could carve for ourselves.
Psalm 37:23-24
“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, and He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurled down, because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.”
3. Surrender Leads to Greater Faith
Faith grows when we trust God with the unknown. The more we surrender, the more we see His faithfulness.
2 Corinthians 5:7
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Conclusion
Surrender isn’t about losing—it’s about gaining something greater: peace, purpose, and a deeper relationship with God.
So today, ask yourself:
🔹 What is one thing I need to surrender to God?
🔹 Where am I holding on instead of trusting Him?
Take a deep breath, release your worries, and trust that His plan is always better than yours.
If this encouraged you, share it with someone who needs a daily reminder to trust God!
Allow time to study Bible doctrine and prayer and apply what you learn to your life, but you can’t do this alone. You need a pastor-teacher. I recommend the teachings from Pastor R.B. Thieme II and his son R.B. Thieme III.. We cannot know the Will of God for our lives without understanding who and what he is! Knowledge builds trust, and trust builds knowledge.
